Privacy Policy

The Short Version

We do not collect, process, or store your files. Everything you view on uplayfile.com is processed entirely on your local machine using your browser's native capabilities. We have no backend servers capable of receiving your data.

1. File Data & Local Processing

When you use uplayfile.com to view a document, video, or data file, you are not uploading the file to the internet. The site utilizes the HTML5 File API to create a local memory pointer (a Blob URL) that allows the browser to read the file directly from your hard drive into your system RAM.

Because the data never touches a network interface, it is impossible for us to collect, view, or harvest your files.

2. Analytics and Tracking

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixels, or any other third-party tracking scripts. We do not track your IP address, your geographic location, or your browsing behavior across the web.

Our server logs (standard Nginx access logs for the static assets) may temporarily record IP addresses and user agents for security and DDOS mitigation purposes, but these logs are rotated rapidly and are not tied to any personally identifiable information or usage of the file viewer itself.

3. Cookies and LocalStorage

uplayfile.com does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. We may use your browser's LocalStorage to save UI preferences (e.g., dark mode toggle, volume settings on the video player). This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to us.

4. Third-Party Libraries

To render certain file formats, we utilize open-source libraries that are served locally alongside our site assets (e.g., Mozilla's PDF.js). We do not load these libraries from external CDNs that might track your request, ensuring a completely sealed environment once the initial page load is complete.

5. Changes to this Policy

Because our architecture fundamentally prohibits data collection, we don't anticipate many changes to this policy. If we do add features that require network communication (which we actively avoid), we will state it clearly here and require explicit opt-in.

How to verify our claims

We encourage skepticism. To verify that we do not upload your files:

  1. Open this website.
  2. Disconnect your computer from the internet (turn off Wi-Fi or unplug Ethernet).
  3. Load a file into the player.
  4. Observe that it still works perfectly.
